Il suo nome è Sebastiano Zerbo, classe 1971, per gli amici "Nuccio". E' Catanese e va veramente FORTE: è il pilota che più di ogni altro al mondo nella storia della “velocità” ha vinto gare e titoli in competizioni motociclistiche ufficialmente riconosciute.

Sembra o è un pilota mitologico... avvolto nel mistero e nel numero di vittorie... le fonti del presente post sono più o meno affidabili...sicuramente tante!!

Andiamo per ordine...

Inizia a correre poco più che adolescente con tutto: dalle corse con i cavalli a quelle in scooter, per poi passare alla velocità su pista. Guida giovanissimo moto a quattro tempi di grande cilindrata (a 15 anni era già in gara con una RC30) vince con tutto dalle 125 alle 250 passando per i quattro tempi. Sul suo curriculum sono stampate circa 600 vittorie un po' in tutte le classi apparse in italia negli ultimi 25 anni sia in pista che in salita, arrivando a partecipare anche ad 8 trofei l'anno

(come nel 2010).

Nei fatti è detentore di ben oltre 582 vittorie, 61 titoli ed oltre 1200 podi totali.

Certo non si tratta di titoli mondiali, ma avete presente che significa?!?!?!?

Vanta comunque due titoli europei nel Challenge 250 con Aprilia, alcune convocazioni (non andate a buon fine a causa degli sponsor) nel mondiale MotoGP 125, nel mondiale SBK Endurance e nell’AMA Superbike, ma soprattutto alcune partecipazioni da “wild card” nei Campionati mondiali TT-F1 e Superbike quando era ancora giovanissimo.

A 41 anni riesce ancora a vincere contro avversari di spessore mondiale, come recentemente in Supersport con una Yamaha privata, si trovava clamorosamente al settimo posto in qualifica d’avanti a campioni del calibro di Kenan Sofuoglu, Stephane Chambon, Kevin Curtain e tanti altri: non si ottengono per caso un tale numero di vittorie.

Molti successi inoltre sono stati ottenuti in un periodo d’oro del Motociclismo tricolore che tra gli anni ’80 e ’90, ha goduto di grande qualità e quantità di talenti che hanno poi vinto anche a livello internazionale.

A rafforzare l'immane mole di successi bisogna considerare che, proveniente dalla mia amata Sicilia, è spesso in carenza di sponsor ed inizialmente senza conoscenza dei maggiori circuiti nazionali.

Attualmente Sebastiano milita sia nel trofeo nazionale Honda, che lo vede impegnato con la CBR 600RR dell’Iron Team e con la Hornet del DB Racing, sia nell’italiano Supertwins, dove è protagonista con il Team SBK Mugello in sella ad una bellissima Bimota.

Tramite la Perfect Motors di San Paolo (BRA), corre anche nel competitivo Campionato Superbike brasiliano, in cui oltre ad Alex Barros su BMW, ha incontrato in gara l’argentino del mondiale SBK Leandro Mercado su Kawasaki e la giovane promessa brasiliana del mondiale Moto2 Eric Granado su Honda.

Quest'anno ha collezionato nel Campionato Brasiliano Superbike due vittorie consecutive... e i numeri aumentano!!!

Ah...credo abbia corso con qualsiasi marca di moto...forse è questa la leggenda!!

SPEED MODE Padova

Vi dice niente questa colorazione?

Vi voglio raccontare una storia...

Pochi giorni dopo essermi trasferito a Padova oramai 4 anni fa, facendo una passeggiata dietro casa, notai che nel parcheggio adiacente ad una villetta lungo il viale che porta al parco c'era un furgone Mercedes bianco e celeste con una grande scritta "Speed Mode Padova".

Pensai subito che si potesse trattare di un vecchio furgone di un team di motocross degli anni 70/80... proseguii.

Ho avuto modo nel tempo di notare altri dettagli "motoristici" nelle adiacenze di quella abitazione che mi fecero immaginare invece un negozio alla base di quei dettagli a me nuovi.

Circa un anno fa in un mercatino dell'usato a Padova trovai una tuta da moto in pelle con una colorazione curiosa quanto evocativa che attrasse immediatamente la mia attenzione: il mio cervello produsse " tuta vintage in pelle colorazione Suzuki - la voglio".

Vista, avvicinato, toccata, aperta, sbirciato la taglia. Il pantalone 48 ... Cacchio non m'entra.

Bella. Fatta evidentemente a mano. Senza protezioni.

Senza difetti. Il taschino interno sembrava quello dei completi da uomo. Gessato. Vintage, sicuro! Che oggetto per la miseria!

Peccato.

Toh! Ancora la scritta Speed Mode Padova.

Ero curioso.

Peccato.

Passano i mesi e ricapito al negozio. La tuta ancora lì.

La riguardo. I segni di alcune scuciture dimostravano la mancanza di un paio di toppe probabilmente della marca della moto o di altri sponsor probabilmente tolte perché...boh.

Vado dal tipo del mercatino e gli faccio un offerta. Chissenefregasenonmientraèbellissimalavoglio.

Il tipo controbatte l'offerta, ci accordiamo, la pago quanto voglio. ME LA PORTO A CASA.

La osservo in silenzio e con più attenzione. Trovo il punzone della lavassecco. E' immacolata.

Provo a metterla. Un guanto, sembra fatta per me.

48 i pantaloni, 50 (non l'avevo notato) la parte superiore. Tuta divisibile.

Mentre frugo nel taschino trovo la toppa della Suzuki. La forma coincide con le scuciture sul petto del giubbotto. WOOOOWW.

Quanto erano comode ed inutili le tute di quei tempi, non come l'armatura moderna che ho in garage...

io che so che significa "volare" in pista mi chiedo cosa sarebbe successo cadere indossando una cosa del genere...

E allora mi cerco informazioni più dettagliate della SPEED MODE di Padova.

Trovo un po' di articoli:

"La storia inizia nel 1964 quando Renzo, a 14 anni, si avvicina al motocross. Poi gli studi alberghieri, uno stage in Germania e, negli anni ’70, l’impegno lavorativo con la Personal di Varese. Il mondo del cross si fida di Bettella: all’epoca i capi erano prodotti artigianalmente e le indicazioni dei clienti-piloti erano tanto preziose da segnare la storia del motociclismo. Perfino la nazionale di motocross dell’Urss si accorda con la ditta di Bettella per vestire i suoi piloti. L’abbigliamento diventa sempre più professionale, la Speedmode realizza le prime pettorine e il primo paraschiena. Di lui e dei suoi traguardi si parla ancora nei blog di enduro per appassionati."

Sembra che la Speed Mode di Padova abbia addirittura inventato la prima protezione per la schiena ... anni prima della nascita della Dainese... il resto si perde nella memorie delle persone...

MV Agusta torna a Vincere!!!

Con la F3 675 del Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse - Yakhnich Motorsport il pilota Jules Cluzel ha riportato sul gradino più alto del podio la MV Agusta dopo 38 anni!!

L'ultima volta aveva vinto con Giacomo Agostini e la 500 4 cilindri sul circuito del Nürburgring.

La F3 è stata l'ultimo regalo di Claudio Castiglioni prima di lasciarci.
